AcipHex is one of the trade names under which the drug Rabeprazole is sold. The product, developed and marketed by Eisai Company, has been approved for short term treatment of certain types of ulcers, as well as erosive or gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD). It has also been used to treat heartburn associated with GERD.
Rabeprazole has been linked to a wide range of adverse health effects, including:

  • Constipation and diarrhea
  • Chronic and often severe headaches
  • Muscle (myalgia) or bone discomfort
  • Vertigo, nausea and vomiting
  • A decrease in white blood cell count, known as leukocytopenia
