Filing bankruptcy for tax purposes

If you wish to file for bankruptcy only because of your tax liability, you should think twice. There are timing requirements that must be adhered to in order for your personal taxes to be dischargeable. Additionally, your credit history will be tarnished and you will end up paying more in the future for purchases you’ll be making on credit, assuming you can get credit at any price. Liabilities resulting from a failure to pay payroll taxes are not dischargeable in bankruptcy.
