Police reports and car accidents

Usually when the police respond to a scene of an accident they write an accident report, especially if someone was injured. Sometimes a police report will simply state that a driver violated a specific section of the state’s motor vehicle laws and that the violation caused the accident. Other times, the report briefly mentions negligent driving. The notation of a violation in a police report provides support for your claim that the other driver was at fault.
