Normally, a parent must pay child support until the child’s 18th birthday. But some state provide an exception for children who need help paying for college tuition after the age of 18. In some states, a parent is not required to assist with tuition unless it is specified in a divorce decree or a specific petition has been made. Ask a family law attorney about requirements in your state.
