Breast implant procedures are considered cosmetic surgery. Breast implants are designed for cosmetic augmentation or reconstruction. Many women choose to undergo a breast implant procedure to enhance their physical appearance. However, some women receive the procedure as a result of accidental scarring or a mastectomy after breast cancer.

The risks of breast implants and the debate over their safety has been discussed in the medical field for some time. The risk of implant rupture, capsular contracture (scarring around the implant) and infection could lead to health concerns and the possibility of additional surgery. Of course, the experience and professionalism of the surgeon and medical team play an important role. A negligent procedure can result in serious injury or even wrongful death.
