Trasylol

Aprotinin (with the trade name Trasylol) is a pharmaceutical product with its origins in the 1930s. The drug, long used to minimize or reduce bleeding during complicated surgical procedures, was first isolated from bovine (cow) glands in 1930 and later made from cow lungs. It was introduced into surgical procedures in the 1960s.

Aprotinin has long been suspected to cause a number of health risks, but meaningful research data was not available until 2006. A study performed that year showed a number of potential side effects, including:

  • Anaphylaxis or anaphylactic shock
  • Thrombosis, or blood clots
  • Acute renal failure
  • Increased risk of heart attack, stroke and brain-related maladies

If you or someone you love has suffered injury after being prescribed Trasylol, GetLegal has the tools and resources to help you find skilled legal representation to protect your rights. Visit our attorney directory, look for your geographic location and find the best lawyer for your situation.
